What you’ll need:
- Chemex® coffee maker
- Chemex® coffee filter
- Pour-over (gooseneck) kettle
- Mug/Cup
- Water
- Tablespoon
- Scale
- Your favorite ground Cafe Leyenda coffee, like the Columbian Blend
Water to coffee ratio:
- 9 tablespoon medium ground coffee per 24 fluid ounce water (45 gram per 720 milliliter)
Instructions:
- Place the Chemex® filter into the brewer. Make sure to leave the thick three-layered side facing the spout.
- Wet the filter with hot water. Thoroughly wet the filter to preheat your brewer. When discarding the water, pour it away from the spout.
- Place the Chemex® coffee maker on the scale. Add medium ground coffee. Use 9 Tbsp (45 g) of ground coffee for every 24 fl oz (720 ml) of water. Tap gently to even out the grounds and set the scale to zero.
- Slowly pour a bit of water onto the grounds Stop when all the grounds are saturated. Wait 30 seconds to let the coffee bloom. (Blooming helps the coffee release natural fragrances, giving it a fuller flavor.)
- Slowly pour more water. Starting in the center of the brew bed, slowly pour a pencil-thin stream of water, spiraling outward. Stop when 2⁄3 of the water has been poured.
- Wait for 20 seconds. Pause for 20 seconds as the coffee brews, then continue pouring the rest of the water.
- Let the coffee drip through. When the coffee stops dripping, discard the filter and gently swirl to experience the nuanced aroma.
- Pour & enjoy your coffee at home!
Quick Tips:
If there’s a thick layer of grounds on the sides of your filter, try different pouring techniques and make sure your pour is even.
